Since Michael Coumas is one of the first local Scotty people I have known, David Turner asked if I would say a few
words about him. I can only say kind words about Michael, friend, scotty adventure person, family man and just a
great all round good person who steps in with a smile just when you need an uplift.
I met Michael on the site in 2002 I think before I then had the first Pot Luck at our house to get Scotty people
together and ScottyAl gave his thumbs up to me to plan and do the very first ‘’Chapter Rally’’ that we formed that
nite as ‘’The New England Chapter’’. Michael couldn’t attend but sent many items for the raffle I held to get started
with funds for the 1st Rally of our chapter. I knew from that point that I had to meet this man in person, and I did at
that Rally and it is all history from then. Michael attended with his whole family with his ‘’Patriotic Scotty’’. Since then
his kids have grown and are into sports so he and his lovely wife Kim are torn to different directions preventing him
from many a fun campout or Rally. But, he is always there to help in the background. Since then, we have never
seen the whole family of 5 together at one time. Getting the reputation of ‘’rent a family’’ with just one or none of his
children camping at the local campouts at Circle 9.
Michael is a kind, generous and fun person to be with whether at a campout, on the SSCE site, or to be together
with in any Scotty rescue that he and I have done. A huge asset to the Scotty world.
