Jeannie Keith heads up this annual event at Circle 9 Camp Ground
here is the letter Jeannie sent me about the camp out

Once again this year there was a demand to repeat this fun camp out in the fall of New
Hampshire . But, this campout was different. We were having a weather forcast of part
of a hurricane heading our way Saturday. But, that didn’t stop people from camping as
we had 25 campers and 51 people (I will have to check my records to be exact), 1 cat
and 2 dogs. The animals were the best behaved---only kidding. People arrived slowly
from Rhode Island , Massachusetts , Maine , New York and New Hampshire .

The only down side was that the campground hadn’t finished their work in the group
area where we were camping so we all hudled in a portion of the area sharing electrical
hookups. Some tripped the circuit breaker during the nite with their electric heaters so
it was an interesting morning for sure when people slowly came out of the campers
with their stories. We did not loose power so it was a surprise to us. We were lucky to
have ‘’Buffy’’ aka David Rowell there to work this thru with the campground owner who
said, ‘’don’t use those heaters, grab an extra blanket’’. Yeah right. David went to each
of the few circuit breakers that were working and figured out which one took what
power and got us all connected so no one would loose power. Thank you David.

With the hurricane looking to be arriving late afternoon Saturday we tried to do the
Thanksgiving feast pot luck a bit earlier. 25 trailers and lots of people I cooked 2
turkeys and someone brought ham to add to all the side dishes and desserts brought by
each family------mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, cranberry relish,
cranberry jello mold, sweet potato, squash, creamed onions, meatballs a la Michael
Coumas, pies, special dessert by Ken Scott and  cake. I have the list of the rest but have
to find it to finish the food.

Anyway, the wind started and so did the rain, but it didn’t damper our spirits or fun. Just
made it a bit messy. We put the tarp up to a large trailer in storage for the winter and
all managed to get plenty to eat. Eventually the rain subsided a bit and we were able to
do the Christmas Yankee Swap around the fire. The only part that we cancelled was the
‘’costume’’ judging. Ofcourse, we all got up Sunday AM to nice weather and it was time
to clean up and head home. But, it was a memorable end of the season campout for sure.

We felt that Jeanne and NE Chapter of SSCE should be the first Enthusiasts of the
month.  Good job Jeannie and the Chapter for braving the weather and cold.
