Steve and Darlene Hall originally from PA, now living in Oak Fl, recently joined SSCE and emailed us the following email, telling us about the 82 Hilander they just purchased
Hi all! We just joined last night. Yesterday we bought a 1982? Scotty more or less sight unseen over the phone. It has been sitting backed into the jungle down here for about a year. The outside sheet metal has only one very small ding in it. Inside to the right of the door the right side panel veneer has come completely unglued from the panel. Water leaked in the seam above a few years back. The last owner fixed the leak but never fixed the panel. There is evidence of past water seepage around the roof AC. I'll tighten the bolts or replace the foam seal. It could be just coming through the AC as it's shroud blew off on it's way from Alabama to FL a couple years ago. I have a spare shroud that i will install on it. We moved down here to Live Oak, FL (Suwannee Co) from Bedford Co PA. We lived very near the Scotty Factory in PA. We owned an Antique shop where we fully restored family heirlooms. Veneer trouble is no problem for us. We will try and save the original panel. The plastic edging around the the table, counter top and seats is cracking and falling off. Does anyone known where we can obtain replacement type edging? The water pump quit working so the last owners parked it. We have a spare water pump left over from another wreck of a camper turned car trailer. Other than these few problems every single thing in the entire camper works perfectly. Even came with two working TVs. One 5" and other 9". Also came with: water hose, extra long power supply cord, mint orig owner's manual, all cushions, fan, outside fload light, complete awning with all poles, 6 leveling stands, plates, silverware, cups and such. Even came with a heavy duty slide in ball hitch for the back of the truck and sway bar. We hooked up to the trailer pulled it out of the woods aired up the tires, checked hub grease and lights, took off for home 157 miles north. Could not even tell it was behind us and our F350 Ford Diesel. The title says it is a 1982 is it? Does it have a model name? Where is the serial number plate located? And where can we find the table edging? Any help would be great. We just posted 4 photos of it on this site. We are into antique tractor shows and we plan to take the Scotty to these shows. We are also restoring a 1954 Spartan but we have a whole lot of work to do to it. Thank you, Steve & Darlene
